Rodolfo
“Rudy” Mata was born and raised in El Paso, Texas.
A graduate of Riverside High School, Rudy received his Bachelor
of Arts in architecture from Princeton University. He simultaneously
pursued a law degree from Boston College Law School and a
master in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology. While at Boston College Law School, Rudy served
as Editor-in-Chief of the Boston College Third World Law Journal.
After
practicing with a local law firm for more than seven years
as an associate and, eventually, a shareholder, Rudy established
the firm, Rodolfo Mata, P.C., with practice areas that include
foreclosures, real estate, banking, commercial transactions
and business organizations.
Prior
to entering private practice, Rudy served as Law Clerk to
United States Federal District Court Judge David Briones in
the El Paso Division of the Western District of Texas and
also served as Law Clerk to the Justices of the Land Court
in Boston, Massachusetts.
Rudy is admitted
to practice law in Texas, New Mexico and Massachusetts (inactive
status) and is admitted to practice before the United States
District Court for the Eastern, Northern, Southern and Western
Districts of Texas and the District of New Mexico. He is also
a member of the Mexican American Bar Association (President,
2003-04), the El Paso Bar Association. Rudy has served on
the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Association of
Hispanic Attorneys, the Steering Committee for the Massachusetts
Environmental Justice Network, and is a former member of the
Boston Bar Association. Rudy sat on the City of El Paso Brownfields
Redevelopment Board, currently sits on the board of the Medical
Center of the Americas Foundation, and is a member of the
Sunturians (President, 2008), a local civic organization.
Rudy is
married to Elizabeth Wechsler Mata, a patent attorney. They
live in El Paso with their three children.
